Technical Details of the Yacht Club Project
Three smartBridges airPoint Pro Outdoor (aPPO) units were connected to an AirLok via a 10/100Mbps switch (Refer to Network Diagram). A Maxrad Isomax 14dBi omni-sectorized antenna was attached via the N-connectors of the aPPOs. The antenna was mounted on top of the yacht club house, on a 10 feet (or 3 meters) tall mast.

The sector antenna is wirelessly linked to client devices, PCMCIA cards and Centrino laptops. Some users elected to have on-board network, where they used an airBridge indoor unit and linked it to the access point. To solve line-of-sight issues caused by some trees covering the center dock, SmartWires put an airPoint Pro TOTAL (aPPT) in client bridge mode and attached it to another aPPT in AP mode to distribute the signal to the center dock.
